Afternoon Tea at Chaophraya Glasgow

You may know from us from being located around the country and welcoming you into our heritage sites for decadent cocktails, authentic Thai food, and stunning décor. Chaophraya takes Thai dining to the next level, offering a true experience for our guests. Each venue is individually designed to best represent the building and its location. It is sophisticated and contemporary with our venues being situated in heritage or rooftop locations.

Across our restaurants we boast a variety of experiences that suit any occasion. Our culinary experiences vary from our infamous cooking schools to our inclusive cocktail masterclasses but, we have introduced something for you to raise a pinkie or two to in our Glasgow venue – afternoon tea! Whether you join us for a date night, a mid-week corporate meeting, networking event, celebration or simply a local lunch we cover it all.

A little bit about the venue. Chaophraya Glasgow is Europe’s largest Thai restaurant, and set in the iconic Townhouse on Buchanan Street, we offer a spectacular Thai dining experience in a beautiful setting. Formerly the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, set over four exceptional floors the restaurant impressively blends contemporary Thai design with the characterful heritage surroundings. The fourth floor accommodates some of the best private dining & meeting space in the city, showcasing opulence at its finest. Decorated with wooden elephants, golden Buddhas and what are surely some of Glasgow’s biggest chandeliers, it is just stunning. The décor is not the only thing that’s breath-taking, the South East Asian cuisine produced by our chefs is just as mesmerising.

So, onto afternoon tea! Our talented, authentic, Thai chefs wanted to curate a sophisticated yet indulgent afternoon tea that catered to all taste buds- not just of the Thai nature. We think we’ve achieved just that! With not a cucumber sandwich in sight, each delicacy is filled with exotic, tongue-tantalising flavours. The kind of flavours that allow you to escape Glasgow city centre into a world of palm trees, gilded temples and jasmine-scented evenings. However, what’s an afternoon tea without a scone, cream and jam? Of course, we had to include these. We have incorporated signature flavours of Thai cuisine, including; lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, chilli and coconut. Although you might associate some of these as striking flavours, we ensure that every selection is kind to your taste buds but packed with a punch.

Want to know more? Here’s a sample of some of the indulgent dishes that you can look forward to.
